At Zeegolf, a 1910s Dutch-colonial home turned boutique stay

Zeegolf

The original 1910s structure still stands — whitewashed walls, arched windows and teak balconies, carefully restored.

Three generations of one family have welcomed travellers here, from a small home-stay with a stable to today's boutique hotel.

Our Story

A hundred years, three generations, one address inside the Fort.

When our grandfather Sydney moved to Galle Fort with his family, Zeegolf was only a small house with a stable. Local travellers stopped for the night, and in time the house became a well-loved hangout for anyone passing through the Fort.

His daughter Mallika, trained in hospitality and with a decade of experience behind her, turned it into a proper home-stay with professional service — known back then as the "Yellow House" for the colour of its walls. Today her nephew Manuja has expanded it into a boutique hotel, keeping the original Dutch architecture while adding modern comforts.

Staying at Zeegolf felt like being welcomed into a family home that happens to sit inside a 17th-century fort. Our balcony looked over the rooftops, the bed was enormous, and the lighthouse was a five-minute stroll away.
